A Storm Center for Reformers: The Sherwood Equal Rights Historic District

The Sherwood Equal Rights Historic District was a crucible for reform in the century following 1830. The Howlands and other area residents, inspired by Quaker values, were pioneers in pursuing abolition of slavery, voting rights for women, and education for all. Join Larry Bell, historian for the Howland Stone Store Museum, as he shares fascinating items saved by the Howland family, including memorabilia, photographs, and selections from the nation’s best collection of women’s suffrage posters, to gain a glimpse into the lives of this extraordinary family and community.  Zoom invitations will be available prior to the event.
