2024-2025 Winter Season Visitor Guidelines
The museum’s regular hours have ceased for the winter season. For visits during the off-season, call or email for information or to arrange tours with 5 days notice. Opendore is open for visitors one hour before any scheduled programs.

Howland Stone Store: in front of the museum
Opendore: in the new parking area to the north of Opendore or across the road in the overflow parking field
Accessibility
Howland Stone Store Museum welcomes and encourages people with special needs to contact us prior to your visit so that we may better accommodate you.
Howland Stone Store: The first floor is wheelchair accessible, the second is not.
Opendore: The building is wheelchair accessible via a ramp on the southwest corner. The 2nd floor of the building is accessible via an interior lift.
DIRECTIONS
From the New York State
Thruway
Sherwood is located 23 miles
south of the Weedsport exit.
Take Exit 40 off the New York
State Thruway, Interstate 90,
approximately 25 miles west of
Syracuse, and 50 miles east of
Rochester.
From Exit 40
Take Route 34 south 15 miles
through the city of Auburn.
At the south edge of the village
of Fleming, turn right onto Route
34B. After 8 miles, you will come
to Sherwood. The Museum will be
on the left at the four corners.
