Kathy Lawton Purc, Sherwood Central School Class of 1963, author of “Stone House Stories, The Memoir of a Free-Range Kid” will read from her book to share the surprising, sometimes shocking discoveries that come from reading and writing personal stories. Humorous and heartwarming, this memoir does not shy away from the more difficult events of her childhood while growing up on Mosher Road in Scipio.
Chances are, some of these memories will feel familiar. School bus rides, Bert the Turtle, wringer washers, Necco Wafers?
And if you need encouragement to write your own story for yourself or your family legacy for publication, Kathy hopes to inspire you.
Kathy credits her love of words, reading, and writing to the K-12 teachers and librarians of Sherwood Central School. Workshops, how-to books, and writing critique groups further developed her writing skills.
Kathy’s reading with audience Q&A will be about 30 minutes. Book signing to follow. Stone House Stories may be ordered from your local bookstore, or online at Amazon and other online vendors.
Note: Opendore will be open for visitors at 1pm on the day of the program.
