Miss Emily Howland was a superwoman, as we know. Yet she had a very human side that we can all relate to. As boxes are sorted and cleaned for moving to Opendore, new facets of Miss Emily’s personality are coming to light. Miss Emily’s Birthday Party, November 20, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Opendore, offers the community an opportunity to study the photographic exhibit in the drawing room, have a cup of tea and a piece of cake, and chat with Miss Emily “reincarnated” for the event. We will learn more about her remarkable life and what she valued—as well as those things she would have been happy to ignore. The party will take place at Opendore, 2978 Route 34B, Sherwood, NY. Sponsored by the Howland Stone Store Museum, the program is free and open to the public.
