Cayuga County’s 19th Century Boom in Women Doctors: Why, How, and Who

Learn about 10 women from Cayuga County who became doctors: what led them to medical school, where they went and how they practiced.

The presenter will be Karen Bove. Karen has a Masters in English and TV/Radio, has taught high school and college English, and administered Fulbright grants for foreign students in the Midwest. Karen came to Auburn in 1985 and ran the Cayuga County Arts Council for 8 years, followed by nearly 20 years on the Seward House staff where she developed an interest in local history. Some people might be familiar with her "Lost Auburn" notecards depicting many buildings lost through urban renewal, etc. She currently volunteers at the Cayuga County Historian's office.

This program will be in-person at Opendore.
