As part of the Howland Farm Museum’s Annual Suffrage March and Tea, the Sherwood Players will present the original play at 2:45 at Opendore “Emily Howland’s First Teaching Engagement.”
The march commences at the Howland Farm Museum on Sherwood Road at 2PM and ends at Opendore, where the play will be performed. Tea follows back at the Farm Museum and reservations are required.
The Howland Farm Museum organizes this event and this is the info from Jodi:
Third year of event!!
Mother's Day Weekend - unique and fantastic way for mothers and daughters to get together!
The March is FREE and begins @howlandfarmmuseum just after 2:00 pm. Please arrive a bit early to park and gather together.
We will walk one mile along a country road up to the Sherwood Equal Rights Historic District. There, we will visit @howlandstonestoremuseum where their amazing volunteers transport us to the front lines of the suffrage movement with exciting readings from their collections! Following the performances, tour Opendore, which had it's grand opening last summer!
At 3:30, we will march back to @howlandfarmmuseum!
At 4:00, for those who have made reservations, we will enjoy high tea, cucumber sandwiches and dessert!
NEW this year: tea party portion is now $5.00 and requires ticket purchase to ensure accurate food prep.
People are encouraged to wear whites and creams, as the suffragists did! Or yellow and purples! Dressing in any type of historic or creative costume is certainly applauded!! Make sashes, bring noise makers, whatever inspires you!!
People who are not able to walk one mile are able to drive to both locations.
Tickets for Tea Party can be purcased thru Venmo @howlandfarmmuseum or by sending me a message for other methods.
